Andrew (AJ) Chapelsky

Fish Research Technician, IISD-ELA

Andrew (AJ) Chapelsky is a fish research technician with IISD Experimental Lakes Area. He supports various research projects studying the population dynamics, movement, physiology, and ecology of freshwater fish.

In previous roles with the Department of Fisheries and Oceans Canada, he supported a research program combining laboratory-based experimental physiology and field monitoring programs to study the distribution and occupancy of sensitive riverine salmonids. AJ also led a field component of a Department of Fisheries and Oceans monitoring project that evaluated the ecosystem and commercial fisheries sustainability on Great Slave Lake, Northwest Territories.

He holds a bachelor’s degree in ecology from the University of Alberta and is based in Winnipeg.
